Everybody Poos…

but not if you are studying Terri’s Synectics Lesson about hydrocephalus requiring a ventriculo-peritoneal shunt! What an amazing connection from v-p shunts to constipation. Terri’s lesson was well planned and thought out. She even did a fantastic job putting up with our sophomoric antics. Teachers are at times the worst students! I enjoyed stepping out of my role as “student” and into the role of “parent of child with some form of hydrocephalus”. Terri did a wonderful job coaxing us to define constipation and to “be” the constipation. We had fun making connections and drawing analogies from the intestine malfunction to the shunt malfunction. Could bowel movements and waste products in general be a theme for this semester’s course? We will have to wait and see because everybody DOES poo!
