Workin’ in a Wimba Wonderland
March 3, 2009 by Karen Casselman
So we met in Wimba tonight to hold class while our fearless leader was off in what I can only presume to be sunny South Carolina presenting at The Society for Information Technology & Teacher Education Conference. The paper she wrote is titled, “Engaging Graduate Learners in Honeymoon Experiences: Collaboration Tools and Techniques for Blended Learning” and she is down south to present this paper at the conference. I wonder how much of the paper was written before Dr. Ackerman met our homey little cohort!
I logged in at around 4 pm and found Kathy and Jill waiting in Wimba. We chatted and bounced ideas off of eachother. Then Terri and Ann joined the group and we giggled at Kathy knitting and looking like she was hanging herself with the elliptical machine and light combination in her house. We liked being able to see her on the video and she kept us amused. Amy A/M came on a little later after technical difficulties and Marc followed shortly there after. We all worked on our own projects for awhile and things were quiet. Then around 6 pm a few of us got chatty before we ran off to make dinner or give our ears a break from the vice-like grips of the air traffic controller headsets. By around 6:45 pm or so, I was back on typing up this blog and beginning work on the much neglected web page design to go with my Behavior Theory Presentation. By around 7:00 pm or so, almost everyone had signed off and checked out for the night. I, on the other hand, continued to dive head first into my web page design using Dreamweaver. Why must I make things so difficult?!? And PLEASE let me go to bed before 11 pm tonight! I hate when I get all OCD with this stuff! Using a noun, and one describing a very serious medical disorder at that, as an adjective. Amy O. will have my head on a plate!
